After a two-year hiatus, the Halifax Urban Folk Festival is back with authority. Halifax Urban Folk Festival or HUFF for short has added new venues, secured bigger acts and have rockstar sponsors ready to make this the best year ever. Luckily we have the low-down for everything you need to know.
What is HUFF?
Mike Campbell, the artistic director of the festival sums HUFF up best. “[HUFF] is a celebration of songs and the people who write them”. Spanning eight venues, 49 artists and six days, HUFF showcases premier folk acts to Haligonians and Nova Scotians alike. This year, the festival features The Skydiggers, Devin Cuddy, Rose Cousins, and Ron Hawkins, among others.
Where is HUFF?
HUFF will take place at eight venues in Halifax. These locations include The Wooden Monkey, The Timber Lounge, The Marquee Ballroom, Stubborn Goat Waterfront Beer Garden, The Anchor, Tempo Food + Drink, The Loose Cannon, The Carleton, and The Seahorse Tavern.
When is HUFF?
The festival takes place between August 27th, 2017 to September 3rd, 2017.
Can I help with HUFF?
Sure! HUFF loves volunteers. Volunteer positions include merchandise sales, venue admissions, stage management, artist hospitality, and helping with transportation. Volunteers will likely get to see incredible music, meet hip musicians, and be on the front lines of Halifax’s coolest music festival. Sign up here.
