It’s The 31st Annual Busker Festival : What You Need To Know

On August 2nd, the 31st Halifax Busker Festival will kick off, throwing the city into a throng of fire-breathing, funky looking, street performers. Coming on the tail of Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships, Downtown Halifax will get another boost from throngs of tourists taking in the second international event in as many weeks.

On five stages over six days, Haligonians and tourists alike will be able to take in contortionists, soccer ball tricksters, and acrobats. Last year, over 250,000 tourists took in performances each day and organizers expect a larger event this year.As Halifax prepares to host 300 shows over six days, we at AboutHalifax.com have all the information you need to know.

What You Need to Know:

  • The festival has is no admission fee though the performers will ask for tips after their performances. Buskers don’t receive payment from the festival, so they work on monetary support from the audience.
  • Don’t bring your dog! With all the people, performers, and distractions, the possibility remains of them becoming scared or spooked. A pooch at home during the Busker Festival is a happy pooch.
  • Aside from busking performances, there will be live music. From the 4th to the 6th, there will be live music at Bishops Landing. See the lineup here.
